Moonshot Collection progress feels deceptively slow when every pack seems to hand you another card from the wrong series, and the current Double XP window makes that frustration more noticeable. With the 7th Inning XP Path moving faster and the Community Home Run Challenge still offering a 2X home-run multiplier through September 21, players are searching for the most efficient route to the required Moonshot Series cards, especially when resources are limited and the best rewards sit behind a collection threshold. Smart use of MLB The Show 26 Stubs can fill a genuine roster gap, but it should support a focused plan rather than replace one.

    Why the Timing Matters

The collection is less about building a broad card inventory and more about identifying which rewards can be earned without spending valuable resources. Moonshot Series cards count toward the collection, while Live Series, Spotlight Series, MLBx Series, Subway Series, Milestone Series, Signature, Hall of Fame, and Awards cards do not. That distinction is easy to overlook when opening packs quickly, and it can lead to a roster that looks stronger without moving the collection forward at all.

Double XP changes the value of each session. Missions tied to Moonshot content, Parallel XP earned with newly acquired cards, and progress through the 7th Inning XP Path can overlap, so a short, targeted session may produce more progress than a longer grind in an unrelated mode. The home-run multiplier adds another layer: power-focused lineups can advance personal objectives while also helping community tiers.

◆ Double XP makes mission completion and Parallel progress more valuable during the same games.

◆ The 2X home-run multiplier rewards aggressive power lineups in eligible modes.

◆ Only cards labeled Moonshot Series advance the collection count.

Build the Collection Through Guaranteed Rewards

Start with the cards that cost time rather than currency. The Moonshot Program includes free rewards such as Gil Hodges and other selectable or earned items, while the Moonshot Event Program can provide additional series cards through wins, statistics, and participation milestones. These rewards are the backbone of the collection because they give you predictable progress even when pack luck turns cold.

Before entering another game, inspect the active program path and note which missions can be completed together. A home-run requirement, a Parallel XP objective, and an event win objective may all be attainable with the same player. That kind of overlap matters more than chasing one mission at a time, particularly while Double XP is active.

    1) Claim every available Moonshot Program reward before spending resources on packs.

    2) Check Event milestones for cards that can be earned through normal gameplay.

    3) Equip newly earned Moonshot cards immediately so their Parallel XP starts accumulating.

Use Packs With a Clear Purpose

Mini Seasons and Diamond Quest are useful because they can produce Moonshot packs while also giving you structured games for missions and player statistics. Their value is highest when you are still missing several attainable cards, not when you are chasing one specific high-end pull. Open earned packs promptly, verify each card's series label, and update your active lineup before the next session.

Pack rewards should be treated as progress opportunities rather than automatic lineup upgrades. A lower-rated Moonshot card with strong contact, useful defensive versatility, or a favorable swing can contribute more to your current roster than a higher-rated card that does not fit your handedness or defensive setup. The collection and the lineup are related goals, but they should not be confused.

◆ Mini Seasons works best for players who want repeatable games alongside pack chances.

◆ Diamond Quest is valuable when its objectives align with your remaining program missions.

◆ Do not discard a usable Moonshot card simply because its overall rating is modest.

    Make the Event Work Twice

The Moonshot Event is the most direct place to combine collection progress with home-run production, although its eligibility rules should be checked before building a roster. Event restrictions can change the available player pool, and an expensive lineup may become unusable if it misses a series or rating requirement. Build around hitters who can make consistent hard contact, then fill defensive weaknesses with flexible players rather than stacking power at every position.

The best Event lineup is not necessarily the one with the highest total rating. I have had better results using a balanced group of hitters with comfortable swings, clear platoon advantages, and enough defensive reliability to avoid giving away extra bases. Since every eligible home run can contribute to the community multiplier, patient at-bats still matter; chasing every pitch often produces weak fly balls instead of the clean contact the mode rewards.

◆ Confirm the current Event eligibility rules before spending time on a full lineup.

◆ Prioritize swing comfort, handedness balance, and defensive coverage over reputation.

◆ Keep Moonshot players active when their Parallel objectives fit the Event naturally.

Choose Rewards for the Roster You Actually Use

Craig Biggio and Mickey Mantle are the headline collection targets, but the practical value of completing the set depends on how your roster is built. Biggio can matter most to players who need middle-infield flexibility, while Mantle may change an outfield immediately if his attributes match your preferred hitting approach. Neither reward should be judged in isolation from lineup balance, bench roles, and the modes you play most often.

Before locking in a choice, compare contact quality, power against both sides, defensive range, arm strength, and the player's Parallel ceiling. A Moonshot outfielder with a reliable swing may be a better short-term addition than a flashier card at a position you already cover. The collection is a long-term asset, but the strongest reward is the one that improves actual at-bats and defensive possessions today.

◆ Take a position upgrade when your current lineup has a clear weakness there.

◆ Favor reliable swing timing and useful splits if you play frequent Events.

◆ Consider Parallel potential when two cards offer similar on-paper attributes.

The remaining Double XP period is best spent on sessions that overlap three goals: Moonshot collection progress, Parallel XP, and home-run contribution. Claim rewards as soon as they unlock, keep newly earned cards in the lineup, and use cheap MLB The Show 26 Stubs only when a purchase addresses a specific roster need rather than an impulse. That approach preserves your resources while giving the current boosts enough time to make a meaningful difference.
